A Poem by Rocky Dennis

These things are good: ice cream and cake, a ride on a harley, seeing monkeys in the trees, the rain on my tongue, and the sun shining on my face. These things are a drag: dust in my hair, holes in my shoes, no money in my pocket, and the sun shining on my face.

The guy that called him a freak might literally be the dumbest moron on the planet. Rocky might not a been attractive on the outside but he was beautiful inside. Do everyone in the world a favor and keep your stupid ass opinions to yourself.

When I'm down I think of the strength of this very strong young man. I was born way after Rocky passed, but I will never forget the brilliance and kindness this person brought to those around him.

I think he's just saying that it can also be a drag to have the sun shining on your face. Like when it's in your eyes..

Unfortunately, I feel he meant the sun felt good on his face, but it also shined light to his appearance that so many ignorant people would judge and ridicule him on. I bet he was a great kid. Always loved this poem, and that's what I got from it when I first heard it in the movie.

I feel like the poem meant, the good feelingof the sun shining on your face is warm and comforting but, it can also be a drag for rocky because when the sunlight shines on his face, it literally illuminates his deformity and causes everyone to stare. I think Rocky would just like to be able to feel normal in the sun or when people look at him if only for a minute.

What an amazing young man, through all his hardships and pain he showed all of us how to truly embrace our misfortunes. He has now seen the face of Jesus and is forever free from sadness. I'm sure he is doing well and I look forward to knowing him in heaven.

Rip rocky I think you had a warm loving gentle soul if everyone was like you the world would be a better place to live in and some ppl would learn what it is to be a better person xx unlike the imature person with an ugly mind to call someone a freak I alway think why ppl like you get to live yet someone like rocky who had so much more to give the ppl around him have to suffer n die your waste on mankind
